Sizing

At Scovas, the month of June is all about Concept Medical's MagicTouch balloon. Today's post #4: "How is the sizing of this balloon determined?

The MagicTouch balloon has a very good transfer in the vessel wall due to the unique Nanolute Technology. To get this transfer as optimal as possible there are a few points of great importance:
→ The correct preparation of the vessel
→ Choosing the right size of balloon

The MagicTouch Sirolimus Balloon Catheter is a semi-compliant balloon designed to achieve the best results through high transfer of sirolimus into all layers of the vessel wall.

To optimize the transfer of sirolimus, before using the MagicTouch, the vessel is predilated with a standard PTA balloon. In this process, the plaque or calcium is already "cracked" as much as possible to increase the transfer.

After this, the MagicTouch is inflated into the target lesion for 120 seconds. It is important that the MagicTouch is the correct size so that the balloon has a good connection with the vessel wall during inflation.
Therefore, always choose the minimum diameter of the vessel or possibly one size larger. Do not choose too large, the balloon should achieve its optimal shape for good transfer.

The MagicTouch has a wide choice of sizes with various diameters on the 0.014, 0.018 and 0.035 platform, so you will always find the right fit! There are also various shaft lengths for optimal use. Due to the advanced Nanolute Technology behind the application of Sirolimus to the balloon, the profile of the balloon is slightly larger than the average Paclitaxel balloon. The wide choice of platforms can be put to good use here to reduce, where possible, the profile of the balloon to be used.
